When a bike disappears, hope usually disappears with it. But in this case, smart tracking, expert support, and one unexpected clue in the snow made all the difference.

Here’s Kristoffer’s story:

“I own a Focus Aventura2, which I locked at a train station in Kristiansand on December 21st before travelling home for Christmas. When I returned on the evening of December 28th, I discovered that my bike had been stolen. So, I directly reported it as stolen in the BikeFinder app. After that, I got a call from Alex from BikeFinder to review what had happened and advise on the next steps. Alex was my guy, who supported me throughout the entire recovery process.

The bike had been transported to Grimstad and was first only showing GSM signals. But very shortly after, there were developments when movements were detected, and subsequent GPS signals started to come in as well.

Alex analyzed the movement patterns and noticed that the bike appeared to be used and then returned to the same location multiple times.

Based on this, he was confident the bike was being stored at that address. He contacted me with the location and even shared a Google Maps image of the house where he believed the bike was being kept.

Once there, I was able to connect to the BikeFinder via Bluetooth, confirming the bike was nearby. Since it had recently snowed, I could clearly recognize my bike’s tire tracks in the snow leading directly to the exact building Alex had identified.

In the end, the recovery was made possible by a combination of BikeFinder’s tracking technology, expert analysis, and decisive action. The tracks in the snow became the final confirmation. At BikeFinder, we love how every bike recovery is different, each one telling its own story of bringing bikes home again.
