A true recovery story from Germany: four high-end bikes found buried in the snow
Michael is a passionate bike shop owner from a village about an hour outside Kassel, Germany. Four of his high-end personal bikes were stolen from his garage. Read how he managed to recover not only his four bikes, but even more, with just one tracker.
Here’s Michael’s story:
“As a bike enthusiast, I own four very expensive bikes that I keep in my garage, two Pivot e-bikes and two Scott bikes, each worth between €10,000 and €15,000.
I had placed a BikeFinder tracker in one of them, imagining this exact scenario in case someone ever broke into my garage.
One Friday morning, I woke up to a notification from the BikeFinder app saying my bike was moving. When I checked, all four bikes were gone. I hoped the tracker would lead me to them.
I immediately reported the theft in the app and headed to the last location shown.
TThe signal led me to a large snowy field with bushes and a small, wooded area. While walking toward the location, I received a call from Alex from the BikeFinder recovery team. He told me to turn on Bluetooth to try to connect directly to the tracker.
As I searched through what felt like a winter wonderland, I found parts from one of my bikes in the snow, so I knew I was on the right track.
I noticed a car nearby, and since the wooded area was quite large, I decided to call the police for assistance.
Then I spotted a large mound in the snow. I went closer and started digging with my hands and uncovered all four of my bikes, hidden together.
As I continued digging, I discovered even more bikes buried nearby, including what looked like a brand-new S-Works.
When the police arrived, they searched the entire area and collected all the recovered bikes.
I’m incredibly grateful that everything worked out thanks to my BikeFinder. Losing those bikes would have been devastating.”
