What are the mounting options?
Recommended and applicable for insurance
We recommend installing the Bikefinder tracker as shown in the manual. This way you’ll know the tracker is taken to its full potential, in addition to the fact that only this method is valid for insurance. That is, if you have a subscription with insurance.
Alternative installations?
If you do not have a subscription with insurance, you are free to install the tracker wherever you like. We do however recommend you to install it so that the antenna head on the end of tracker is not being blocked. It needs access to free air so that it is able to communicate with the satelittes.
We advise you to verify that the tracker receives the expected signals through the BikeFinder app (”History”), to make sure that you can trust that you are able to track your bike if it were to be stolen.
Note that we still recommend you to install the tracker according to manual. We do not take any responsible for how you choose to install it.
Use of handlebar-ends while tracker is installed?
Rubber and/or thin plastic on the handlebar’s end covering the antenna head should be no problem.
Grips with metal (like aluminium and carbon) will on the other hand essentially create a Faraday shield and disturb the GPS and GSM signals. For this reason we have designed the antenna so that it looks like a normal black bar-end.
